HARDWARE

 

Most computers with a reasonable broadband connection will work reliably with ProtoSphere.  If you are able to talk on Skype or watch videos online without buffering then you will  be able to use ProtoSphere.  At the moment you'll need to use Windows but a version for Mac OS will be available later in 2020, and there will also be a version that will run in a browser.  Or you can run Windows on your Mac using Bootcamp or Parallels.  That's what we do!!

 

The minimum specification recommended by the suppliers of ProtoSphere is outlined below.

Display resolution Required: Super VGA 1024 x 590

Recommended: Super VGA 1080x720 or higher

 

Operating system

Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit

Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit

Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit

 

System language must be set to English

 

Computer / Processor

Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64, or equivalent

2.4 gigahertz (GHz)

Windows Experience Index (WEI) of 3.5 or greater(Win 7)

 

Memory

At least 2 GB RAM

 

Storage

500MB+ of free disk space

 

Video memory

3D-capable video card with minimum of 256MB (512MB recommended) of Video RAM and Microsoft. DirectX. 9.01c application programming interface. 

 

Integrated video is not recommended.

 

Audio

USB headset with microphone is the preferred option in open plan offices.  

If you are in a quiet room then your PC microphone and speakers will be fine.

 

Network

Bandwidth, 256 kbit/s (minimum) 768 kbit/s or greater (recommended)

Security, administrator privileges needed for installation.
